The term Master in foundational BDSM is not a role, but a title for a particular form of Dominant that applies only to BDSM. Masters accept total authority and are in control of their slaves. A Master "owns" a submissive as property — an indication that another human being found them trustworthy and experienced enough to give them their whole person.
